Let’s be honest, fries may pretend like they like us, but they aren’t really our friends. Full of salt, oil, and carbs there isn’t much health benefit from a bag of fries. Still, they’re hard to resist and easy to share.
But keep them away from your worms! If you find a few scraggly fries at the bottom of your fast food bag, give them to Fido instead.
Compost worms can tolerate a small amount of potato in their diet, mashed, sliced, or baked, but certainly NOT when it’s been fried and salted. So, no, I know it’s hard to believe it, but red wigglers DO NOT dig french fries.
Avoid sharing greasy food with your red wigglers, and aim to keep their diet free of salt as well. I’m sure a worm belly ache is no fun.
Fries are great for dipping and worm compost is great for scooping. Get the latest worm composting scoop for FREE when you sign up for our monthly The Squirm Firm Newsletter There’s always something exciting to discover when we’re dishing about worms! Find out more today!
